WHY IT MAY BE WRONG TO “BE YOURSELF”
I have a writing style called: “truthiness to self”.
This style was so profound that I gave series of interviews on it. However, I
stopped talking about it or promoting it for some time when I realized I was
not qualified to adopt it and adopting it at that stage could be eternally
detrimental to achieving my purpose for living.
I needed to discover and develop myself before
I can adopt the philosophy and use it most effectively, not only for the
benefit of myself, but for others too.
A lot of people will say “I am just being
myself, and you have to love me the way I am” even when it is obvious they are only
creating alibis to avoid working on their weaknesses.
Gold is gold, refined or not, but if it stays
unrefined in the name of being true to itself, it will never be of any value;
moreover, the price will be reduced and it can never be used for its purpose by
staying unrefined. This is exactly what
people do to themselves, whenever they admit being themselves when they haven’t
discovered and developed themselves.
This is the reason why the majority of people
have relationship difficulty both intimate and inter-personally. More so, this
set of people will never achieve their dreams and purposes in life, should they
remain like that. They are only being true to their undiscovered and
undeveloped self, much like unrefined gold.
The ongoing #SOSADM revealed a lot about this,
as many of the students agreed that their personality disorders make them
unique, whereas, the truth is exactly the opposite.
Weaknesses don’t make people unique; it only makes
them uniquely stupid, until they decide to discover and develop themselves and
why they do things they do.
This discovery and development involves
knowing your potentials, passions, talents and how to put to the right use.
More importantly, for this to be done most effectively, and for a person to
arrive at a state of being developed, when he/she can now be true to self,
admitting and working on one’s weaknesses and disorders is key, without that,
there is no hope.
Just before you say you are being yourself,
you may need to answer these questions:
Who are you and why are you who you are?
Can you be yourself without knowing who you are?
Who are you and why are you who you are?
Can you be yourself without knowing who you are?
Have you discovered your personality
weaknesses and worked on them?
If your answer to any of the questions is NO,
then it is inappropriate to say you are just being yourself. The philosophy of
truthiness to self is simply not for you to adopt, except you want to ruin your
own life.
However, if you wish to get to that level
where you will be able to adopt that philosophy for the benefit of yourself and
many others too, I suggest you register for SOSADM (Science of Self-Discovery
And Development).
