ABUSE OF SELFISHNESS; MANKIND'S WORST PROBLEM

Selfishness is a godly trait!
This truth might sound so awkward, but it changes nothing. The abuse of this trait is the reason why we have a lot of anomalies in the world.

Selfishness according to "The Image of God", a book written by Soul'e Rhymez is the quest to care about oneself. This however was explained in the book as a trait found in God.
The same book stated self-centeredness, stinginess and greediness as ways to abuse selfishness.

Selfishness is also an attribute that makes self-love a possibility. It is a virtue on its own, just like selflessness and both could be used in the practice of love.
According to The Image of God, selfishness is one of the traits that makes mankind image of God.

The writer explained it is the reason why God doesn't share his glory or likes to share it with anyone, this belongs to only him and he guards it jealously. This is made possible by selfishness, a trait which he transferred to us as his image.
Abuse of this in turn makes it look like a bad trait, but it is not.

Several abuse of selfishness is the reason why we have corrupt government everywhere, wars and quest for dictatorship.
People abuse selfishness by becoming self-centered, stingy and greediness. Mankind abuse selfishness due to their inability to use it justifiably.

In an open letter I wrote to Africans and Africans in Diaspora, urging them to return home, I pointed to the exploits of Men who fought for the independence of America, which includes Samuel Adams who refused personal gain to follow the course of gaining independence for America.

Samuel's decision was possible because he didn't abuse selfishness, despite he had it in him.
Accepting the great personal offers would have meant self-centeredness, an abuse of selfishness.
He was selfless, but that doesn't stop the fact that he has the trait selfishness in him.

Coming back to Nigeria, we face a lot of injustice and corruption due to abuse of selfishness.
Our leaders only cared about themselves and their families alone, they will accept bribes to withdraw in the righteous course of fighting for the right of Nigerians. This is why we are where we are today. No progress, but that's how dangerous abuse of selfishness can be.

Greediness is the order of the day in the country.
Every man wants more and more without caring about what the other person gets.
They even collect the small that the poor people have.
They only care about their families alone and wouldn't give cheerfully to support righteous courses. All these, though could be as a result of lack of faith, but they are all abuse of Selfishness.

God made everything, and if we tap into them with moderation, they will work well for us. It is the same with selfishness.
Both selfishness and selflessness are traits from God, we only need wisdom in tapping into them.

I advise we tap into selflessness, because selfishness is a part of us that will always manifest regardless of how selfless you try to be.
Avoid stinginess, self-centeredness and greediness, they are all abuse of selfishness.

Talking about virginity to some people, you are indirectly talking about holiness, but have we ever tried to ask what the differences are? Does virginity have anything to do with holiness? Maybe we just don’t define them rightly. Now let’s define them. According to Oxford Dictionary, holy from which holiness is derived are defined as follows: 1. Morally and spiritually excellent or perfect, and to be revered. 2. Belonging to or devoted to God. 3. consecrated, sacred. [Old English: related to *whole] Let’s talk the meaning of virginity just as well. Virginity means remaining a virgin and according to Oxford Dictionary virgin is defined as follows: 1. Person who has never had sexual intercourse. 2. (The Virgin) Christ's mother Mary. 3. (The Virgin) sign or constellation Virgo. —adj. 1 not yet used etc. 2. Virginal. [Latin virgo -gin-] All the above definitions of virgin points to one thing: natural state of something; a state of not being utilized.
