C.H.E.C'S MONTHLY CHILD DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP. 4.0


The workshop which was themed "They too are the earth" took place on Friday 26th of August 2016, at the Vigilant Heart Charitable Society Orphanage and kicked off at 10:00am with most of the team members already present.

It started with an opening prayer amongst us, led by Ifeanyi Bernard.

Next in line, we introduced ourselves to the children and this was done by CHEC's president, Chinonye Chidolue.

She explained to them who we are as C.H.E.C and really broke down our activities, what we do and what we have achieved in the past with other orphanages.

Ifeanyi came up next to liven up the children, play with them a little and to prepare their minds for the speech that was to come.


Motivational speech given by Nkana Rebecca was beautiful, as she spoke to the children about realizing their potential and hidden talents and took them on a path of discovering them. It was really inspirational and the children could relate to all that she said.

After the speech, Sir Ifeanyi came up again with a very interesting historical story and then unexpectedly switched to spoken word poetry, which hinged on the use of time in a blend of English and pigin language.

Once Sir Ifeanyi was done, our president came up to engage the children in a practical display of talents and made them believe they could change the world irrespective of what talent they had displayed.

After this very interesting session, Charlie, whom our president likes to refer to as "Charlie Sheen" came up with a very interesting, captivating and creative spokenword poetry, the moral lesson of which was to keep away from bad company.

In all, it was a very fulfilling day, which ended in smiles and picture taking.

This is just the 4th Edition and we have achieved so much already by planting our footprints in the hearts of these kids, but there is still so much work to be done which I know we can and will achieve together.

The Lord is our strength and we shall keep attaining new heights together as the C.H.E.C team. God bless us all in our strive to help the children become better version of themselves!

THE RUDIMENTS OF EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION

Let ’ s start by knowing what we call Communication. COMMUNICATION As food and water is crucial to human survival, so does Communication. Communication pervades every human activity, man cannot do without it. We are engrossed in it from the time we wake up in the morning until we go back to bed in the night; from birth to death we are in perpetual state of communication. It is a phenomenon that cuts across the daily activities of human beings. In fact, the pervasive nature of communication makes it impossible for us to ever refuse to communicate as long as we are living. Hence, the axiom; “ we cannot not communicate ” comes into place. In view of the above, one will see that communication is very important to man. It is a cord that binds every part of the society together. HOLINESS AND VIRGINITY

Talking about virginity to some people, you are indirectly talking about holiness, but have we ever tried to ask what the differences are? Does virginity have anything to do with holiness? Maybe we just don’t define them rightly. Now let’s define them. According to Oxford Dictionary, holy from which holiness is derived are defined as follows: 1. Morally and spiritually excellent or perfect, and to be revered. 2. Belonging to or devoted to God. 3. consecrated, sacred. [Old English: related to *whole] Let’s talk the meaning of virginity just as well. Virginity means remaining a virgin and according to Oxford Dictionary virgin is defined as follows: 1. Person who has never had sexual intercourse. 2. (The Virgin) Christ's mother Mary. 3. (The Virgin) sign or constellation Virgo. —adj. 1 not yet used etc. 2. Virginal. [Latin virgo -gin-] All the above definitions of virgin points to one thing: natural state of something; a state of not being utilized.
