The sun still slumbered
and the charade of illumination seemed all engulfed in a long experienced
eclipse. The earth is seen wary, yet bent clambered in soliloquy of a new day,
as it seemed the terrestrial elements were not ready for the instance.

Yet, honking and gridlock
on bridges and pathways all assumed the ever call of diligence and vehemence.
Another date was marked, in diaries of the steadfast irrespective of the sullen
clime.
Amid these risers are the contingents posed towards humanity, armed with the
arsenal of Joy, selflessness and quiver full for posterity.
The Child Hero Empowerment
Campaign (CHEC)'s train in spite of valley-low and Hill-up interspersing the
Bariga's turf- swinging hither-thither, unsteadied by unkempt roads and
potholes wider than a party's cauldron finally berths at the regal home of ALL – FOOTPRINTS OF DAVID ART

It was the 20th of July,
2016 and the CHEC Team seized the opportunity to educate and entertain the
children on living a skillful and successful life, by building their talent at
the foundation level and also taking advantage of their educational
opportunities to groom themselves into skillful and resourceful individuals.
This marked the 3rd edition of CHEC’s monthly Child Development Workshop.
Amobi, discussing with Paul, a reporter from THE NATION Newspaper |
CHEC, known for her monthly humanitarian activity chose: “Education and Talent: Gateway to a Future” as the theme for their June workshop. Talent it truly was, for a collectible of dancers, drummers, acrobats, Singers, Orators, poet, Writers and Dramatist who filled the room, welcoming us with serenading folk-songs and their improvised National Anthem (Footprint of David Art academy version) at about few minutes past ten.
After the well composed
tunes with appealing harmony followed by a round of applause, Mr Uche
Uwadinachi as usual showcase of spontaneity and proficiency formally announces
the purpose of the gathering.
His “moni moni” song was both appealing
and educating as the pupilage of the Academy learnt unforgettable morals
thereof.
The sagacious poet,
Prestige enthralls all with his piece titled-LOVE, woven with puns and rhymes.
He says, “Truth without Love is Brutality".
The next speaker was Amobi
Q-sac Okeke in an unassuming entrance gave out a test on Tongue twisting with a
price tag without an apt respondent. His lecture hinged on fundamentals of Education as a catalyst for
grooming inherent abilities.
He however stated that it
must be well nurtured. Before bowing out, he requested that the attentive
children select each letter from the word EDUCATION, which he gave a definition
to in his own words. He brilliantly answered to the amazement of all.

SunSamPaul Egwu (Sunday
Paul Egwu) with his unmatched panache of will and meticulous steps, up the game
by giving out his new book titled: IKENNA AND THE ZEBRA to randomly selected
ones.
Thence, his two poems,
Full of Hope and Save the Slum, were doled on a platter of passion and
tenacity.
SunSamPaul, entertaining the kids |
Poet, event planner and
motivational speaker and member of the CHEC team; Babatunde Odubanwo, wielded
his session by tutoring the children on the benefits of education and living a
life of focus and diligence, whilst taking them on a journey of imitable
historical icons.
Babatunde Ogunbanwo, Motivating the kids |
Spoken word Artiste and Speaker
Fr33zinPaul rendered a short but inspiring address to the children, using the
Acronym “PISS” to motivate them. He gave
the children a new understanding of the word “PISS” which for him means– Patience, Income, Savings
and Service, four of which upholds the age long philosophy of starting small
and earning greatly.

As the workshop rolled to
its end, CHEC’s initiator & founder, Chinonye J. Chidolue, seized the moment
to appreciate the children for their spontaneity, zeal and creativity
irrespective of their relegating environs. She applauded them for how far they’ve come and encouraged
them to discover their true passion and never depart from it.
