Soul'e Rhymez: Good evening Great Minds

Taofeek: He's here already; you’re welcome Sir Soul'e Rhymez

Soul'e Rhymez: Is anyone home? Only one person responded to the salutation. If you are online, please signify

Prince M: Welcome sir

Taofeek: You're welcome

Soul'e Rhymez: Well, it is good to be here and it is a rare privilege which I truly appreciate. Today we will be talking about the rudiments of Leadership

Mystee C: 👆
Soul'e Rhymez: But first, I will like one person among us to define leadership.

~An-Naze: You are highly welcome sir

Soul'e Rhymez: Anyone?

Prince M: Capacity to lead

Soul'e Rhymez:

Taofeek: Leadership is the ability to inspire people, motivate them and make them achieve what they believe and believe not.

Soul'e Rhymez: Capacity to lead is correct, only that Mr. Taofeek explained it better. Now that we have an idea what leadership is, will you like me to give you a definition of leadership?
Leadership is the capacity to follow the right course of life and make others do the same without abusing their volition.
Does anyone disagree with that?
Or you need me to break it down?

Prince M: Ride on sir

Taofeek: I understand, but need explanation for “without abusing their volition."

Soul'e Rhymez: You know what volition is?
Please someone should copy and paste dictionary meaning of volition. Or should I say it in my own way?I'm waiting....

Nana Aw: 👆🏼

Prince M: the power to make your own choices or decisions

Soul'e Rhymez: Good, anyone else?

Taofeek: 1: an act of making a choice or decision; also: a choice or
Decision made. 2: the power of choosing or determining.
The faculty or power of using one's will.

Soul'e Rhymez: Cool, It is simply freewill in another word.
A leader must not tamper with people's freewill, if he does; he's not a leader, but a dictator.

Prince M: Hmmm

Legend: Hmm

Soul'e Rhymez: A leader must know how to make people do things, follow him without having to force them to do so. However, there are qualities required to achieve this. One is knowledge, patience, perseverance and communication skill

Abisola: 📝📝📝📝

Soul'e Rhymez: These works hand in hand.
Now let me start with knowledge, a leader must learn twice as much as his followers does

Legend: Go on sire

[Soul'e Rhymez: He can't give what he doesn't have and therefore, he needs to be knowledgeable to lead.

Nana Aw: .....📝

Legend: True, true

Soul'e Rhymez: Secondly, which is patience; he needs it thrice as much as his followers.
After patience is perseverance, then comes communication skill.

Ibanker: 🙌🏾
Soul'e Rhymez: Patience is the very key in leadership; you don't lose it all the time, stay calm and always be in control. Don’t let situation always get on your nerves, let it be in your head and not in your heart.

Legend: I like that!
Taofeek: Hmmmm
Taofeek: Proceed Sir

Soul'e Rhymez: Ok, Let your head do its work without the intervention of your darling emotions.
Emerald: ....Uhm

Soul'e Rhymez: These emotions includes, anger, envy, jealousy, love and hate.

Abisola: hmm

~Hon Ety: I'm loving this.📝

Soul'e Rhymez: While love is good, hate is bad if directed at human being and good things, while jealousy can be fair, envy is not allowed at all, while anger is not at all time good, not expressing it at times could prove disastrous, thus every leader must learn to put all these emotions in to right use and not abuse them.

Abisola: 📝📝📝📝

Soul'e Rhymez: Can I go on?

Emerald: 👍yes sir

Legend: *So thought filled*

Taofeek: Yes

Legend: Of course sire

Soul'e Rhymez: Thank you.
All these looks like theories, but if the chance is given, we will take each emotion one after the other and relate them to life events, even in my own life so we can learn, but for now, let's take communication skill just as much.
Lack of communication skill has killed many leaders.

Abisola: ohhh
Soul'e Rhymez: So bad that they seem not to be ready to learn, Talking about communication, it is an art, which means it has to be learn and the greatest art of communication is the art of seeing in another person's perspective and sympathize with them.
Did anyone get that?

Taofeek: Yes! I do

Nana Aw: Yes

Soul'e Rhymez: Good, we can now go on. I must tell you that, blindness to see with another person's eyes is one of the worst blindness that has plagued the world.

Taofeek: Hmm

Soul'e Rhymez: However, to overcome this blindness, three things are needed, knowledge, patience and perseverance.
Should I explain that?
Or you understand it?
Are you with me?

Mystee C: Yes sir…

Abisola: yes o
Nana Aw: Yes Sir

Taofeek: 🏾

Soul'e Rhymez: Alright, talking about seeing in another person's perspective and sympathize with them, the first thing that comes into play is the knowledge of who you are dealing with, patience to listen perseverance to proceed, despite the annoying situation.
All these works hand in hand to bring out the leader in you.
Leaders don't conclude, they ask questions:
“They say why did you do that?” Instead of saying “you are stupid, that's a wrong thing to do.”
They ask, “Why don't you do it this way or that way,” instead of saying, “you must do it my way.”
Look, any fool can acquire position bragging about being the boss, but it takes true wisdom to be a true leader.

Emerald: Uhm

Soul'e Rhymez: This wisdom encapsulates use of knowledge, patience; perseverance and communication skill.
If leadership is all about carrying along only those who are loyal to you, then, a lot of fools will be leaders, but true leadership entails carrying along both those who are loyal to you and those who are not without abusing their volition.
This is where control of emotions comes in.
A leader must know he's not a leader of people, but a leader of life.
If he leads a life well, then people will follow him willingly without being forced to do so.
The moment you want to lead people and always want them to obey you; then you have become less a leader and have become more of a boss.

Taofeek: Hmm

Abisola: hmmm

Soul'e Rhymez: This is why I said, for every visionary, it will always get to a point where you will have to choose between your name and your vision and any decision made at this point will either make or mar your vision.
True leaders are visionaries, who are ready to trade their names for their visions.
It is unfortunate that Nigeria does not have a leader yet, let's see how Buhari goes, but our previous leaders aren't leaders, but rulers.
They came to nurture their ambition and most of them have no vision.
This is because ambition is all about you (your name) and vision is about other people.

Taofeek: Yeah, Okay

Soul'e Rhymez: True leaders must be able to sacrifice; this takes perseverance to come by.
If you cannot sacrifice for people, then, you aren't qualified to become a leader.
If your life is always about you, how you feel, what you want and how you want it most times, then you are a disaster. You will be worst as a follower and you should never think of being a leader.
Following?

Taofeek: Yeah

Soul'e Rhymez: True leaders are men who share love, they don't hoard love to themselves, they don't seek positions; rather, they seek responsibility.
They don't seek awards; rather, they crave for reward for people.
Leaders most times operate on AMBVISION which means to use their ambition to support their visions and most of them often lost their ambitions in pursuit of their visions.
Since ambition is about them and vision is about the people, this tells a lot about sacrifice.
Lastly, let me list the rudiments of leadership as mentioned in this lecture.

RUDIMENTS OF LEADERSHIP
Knowledge
Patience
Perseverance
Communication skill,
Love
Sacrifice.

I'm done…
This is where I drop my pen....
Any question from these great people?

Taofeek: Hmmm, 😀👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽, Thanks a lot for the wonderful presentation

Abisola: hmm

Taofeek: My question goes thus: How can a leader lead people through leading life? Or rather, how can one lead life?

Nana Aw: That's what I wanted to ask too.

Soul'e Rhymez: Thank you for that intelligent question.
You see, all of us are leaders, we lead certain life and people follow, if you are consistent, you will see that people will follow.
Like in a group I am fortunate to create, I don't dictate anything to them, but when a new member comes and ask, what this group is about, they answer the person in the way I will do it without me telling then.
This means, they have studied a life I lead and followed up.
As a leader, you have to focus on getting better.
Be the change you desire, be the leader you desire.
Most importantly, whatsoever you want people to do to you, do to them first.
Any more questions?

Uthman: What will a leader do if d followers are not responding or follow him?

Soul'e Rhymez: Don't force people to follow you, it is a battlefield of the mind, don't give in. Leaders lead life, not people.
Unknown to you, you are leading many people more than you ever can see.
An instance was in a gathering where I raised a debate, everyone went against me, it was the world against me, but after what looked like a rapturous debate, one guy came to meet me and said "you are a great guy; surely you will do well in life".
That is a testimony that I have several followers and that shows that people actually believed me, but couldn't physically follow me because there's the founder who also went against me.
I was the leader; I led a life and people followed even though I didn't really know them.
Hope I answered your question?

Nana Aw: Yeah Sir

Soul'e Rhymez: In the absence of any other question, I will like to take a bow, my name remains Soul'e Rhymez.
If you want me to present in your church, to your youths, place of work, people with relationship difficulties and those who need leadership skills. Please do not hesitate to call on me.
This is what I do.

My charges are not much, but we can be happy to change lives.

I value you all.

See you all tomorrow.

Nana Aw: Aright Sir Bye, Have a lovely night rest
