STREET LOVERS
Look at them who
disturb our sights
and insult my
Chastity,
That man in singlet
and knickers
and the lady in
pant and bra
as they hang on
each other kissing
along our street.
Their houses are
housed few houses
away from each
other yet,
they can't stop
roaming our street
Like newly wedded
couples on their honeymoon.
Their future is
futile,
standing dry having
had its fruits
Plucked and fed to
the dogs
and they who own it
forget it exist,
they leave him to
die in misery.
They slouch slowly
on our street
and their lives run
so fast to meet them
but the faster they
run towards them,
the farther the
distance between them.
They lost their
heads in what
They call love.
They are too encapsulated
in the
Present to remember
the future.
They hang hands
around each other
like clothes hung
on lifeless ropes,
they whisper and
smile,
mocking their own
lives as they
run so fast to
catch up with them.
At nights when the
moon couldn't
See the truth,
They gum to each
other
behind houses,
stagnant wheels, closed doors,
behind the lights
in order to keep warm.
They give no
attention to the passersby,
they mourn and make
us jealous
but we know they
will soon
Search for the life
that they mock
after they must
have
Killed many lives
that caught up
With them while they
Gummed to each
other at nights
when eyes are
closed
and at noon when
all hands works.
Nice poem! The street lovers indeed...keep it up
