Just before I decided to redefine education, I got admission on merit to study English Language in Unilag. Getting this admission was to me and to people around me a remarkable achievement before I learnt otherwise. I got it when everyone seemed to believe it took only those that are connected to get it. I was just an unconnected chap from Kogi State, I knew no one in Unilag and that administration was what took me to the school for the very first time. Being a native of Kogi State reduced my chances of ever securing admission in the acclaimed prestigious school, because Kogi is not their catchment area, but I got it. If fear of criticism prevents you from doing what you should do, you will never become exceptional in your endeavors; and you might perhaps never achieve anything worth celebrating. The above statement is so true that record has shown that those that refuse to do what they have to do because of what people might say remains average all their lives. No one can count the number of people who have gone down as failures due to this, but we can point to several people who have defied the fear of criticism to do what they have to do and have their name written indelibly in the history book. Selfishness is a godly trait! This truth might sound so awkward, but it changes nothing. The abuse of this trait is the reason why we have a lot of anomalies in the world. Selfishness according to "The Image of God", a book written by Soul'e Rhymez is the quest to care about oneself. This however was explained in the book as a trait found in God. The same book stated self-centeredness, stinginess and greediness as ways to abuse selfishness. Selfishness is also an attribute that makes self-love a possibility. Writers are known for their humility, but not   Soul'e Rhymez , a Nigerian Poet and Public Speaker who recently declared he's God. Soul'e's seeming arrogant disposition has been a turn of among writers and non-writers, but he seem to be unwilling to turn a new leaf, he simply did not care what people think about him, insisting people only see what they want to see. After sharing his famous article, HOLINESS AND VIRGINITY , the writer was accused of plagiarism by another writer, who is relatively unknown. She claims the enigmatic writer stole his idea, even though she didn't present the write-up she claimed he plagiarized to him as he requested. Last week, the news broke out that 2face , one of the finest Nigerian Pop Stars planned a protest against the government which he tagged “one voice” this generated a lot of criticisms as much as support before he finally withdrew the plan, stating security reasons. Whatsoever his reasons maybe, a section of people believes the labour union should lead the protest against bad government, especially when it cripples the economy as we experience it now. They could not be wrong to say that, but should they fail to perform as expected, who should step in? To find answers to this question, SRAF asked some of the youths on their platforms, in a discussion tagged “who should lead protest against bad governance?”  And some of them bore their minds intelligently on the issue.

Criticism is an art, which always involves certain acts too; this has been confused for condemnation. Though criticism and condemnation looks alike, they aren’t the same. Criticism is an act of pointing out the wrongs in a person, a thing or a situation while condemnation is an aspect of judgment that blames or punishes offenders for the wrongs they did. However, most professional critiques, going by their dispositions, are professional condemners. There is nothing professional about criticism until “constructive” is added to it, this is an oxymoron to create a balance which means before someone decides to criticize a thing, he should have appreciated the good side twice as much. Most critiques only concentrate on picking out the wrongs without saying anything about the good sides and this shows that they are illiterate in the art of criticism.
