Have you been wondering why everything seems so costly now? A few days ago, I went out to purchase an envelope and it was sold for N20; I was baffled, but was not shocked. I expected worse from a country that are not encouraged to produced things they use and when dollar is high, importing these things cost more and inflation set in. The problem is actually our wrong definition of Education. In any society where education is wrongly defined, we can only expect worse. We send our children to procure certificates and speak good English, thinking that’s what education is all about, this is why we are so backward, despite we have most people who we considered highly educated. I must say here that until we are able to rightly define education, we will experience worse situation than this. What is the right definition of education? Watch this video and hear how these resourceful youths as they define education. I tell you the truth, after watching, ...

C.H.E.C'S MONTHLY CHILD DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP. 4.0

Image
The workshop which was themed "They too are the earth" took place on Friday 26th of August 2016, at the Vigilant Heart Charitable Society Orphanage and kicked off at 10:00am with most of the team members already present. It started with an opening prayer amongst us, led by Ifeanyi Bernard. Next in line, we introduced ourselves to the children and this was done by CHEC's president, Chinonye Chidolue. She explained to them who we are as C.H.E.C and really broke down our activities, what we do and what we have achieved in the past with other orphanages. Ifeanyi came up next to liven up the children, play with them a little and to prepare their minds for the speech that was to come.

FIRST LOVE FEVER (HOW TO GET OVER YOUR EX-LOVER)

Image
Except charm is involved or other diabolical means, the belief that there is something spiritual about being drawn back to someone’s first lover is a grand illusion. However, quite a lot of people find it hard to overcome the temptation of returning to their first love, even when they are married. This they blamed on some uncontrollable spiritual attraction. This illusion was made famous by the moralists, mostly religious, in a bid to have people avoid premarital sex. However, their approach has done more harm than good. It has seen many people become slaves to their first love; most of them even commit adultery, which is even a worse offense to the moralists, based on the tenets of their various religions.

THE TRAIT CALLED LOVE (PROMOTION)

Image
Sometimes ago, a lady chatted me up asking me to teach her how to love. That might sound like she wants us to start dating, but that’s not what she meant, according to her, she is a virgin and even though I deduced she was willing to fall in love, she couldn’t help but stay away from men, whom she claimed to hate when it comes to love and dating. She said men are deceitful and don’t know what love is, then I asked her what love is. Believe me, she didn’t know it, and that’s the source of her problem. On what ground was she judging the guys she claimed don’t know what love is, when she can’t define it too? Did you know that no one has been able to define love, the closest anyone has come is to say “God is love, but does that describe love in totality? NO! Then what is love? What is the relationship between love and sex? What is the difference between love, lust and infatuation; what is the connection? Does love actually come first when it comes to d...

THE RUDIMENTS OF EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION

Image
Let ’ s start by knowing what we call Communication. COMMUNICATION As food and water is crucial to human survival, so does Communication. Communication pervades every human activity, man cannot do without it. We are engrossed in it from the time we wake up in the morning until we go back to bed in the night; from birth to death we are in perpetual state of communication. It is a phenomenon that cuts across the daily activities of human beings. In fact, the pervasive nature of communication makes it impossible for us to ever refuse to communicate as long as we are living. Hence, the axiom; “ we cannot not communicate ” comes into place. In view of the above, one will see that communication is very important to man. It is a cord that binds every part of the society together. Human activities and achievements have relationship with communication whether one expresses himself verbally or through non-verbal means, even when a man is presumed silent, he is in a way ...

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LOVE AND JEALOUSY

Image
THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LOVE AND JEALOUSY   A lot has been said about love and jealousy, most people believe that without jealousy, there is no love, however, a lot of people out of jealousy have injured their partners, who they claim to love so much. I have heard of and read of several acts of jealousy in relationships and I could only ask if jealousy actually depicts love. There are cases where suspected rivals are murdered, all in the name of jealousy. Some people even cause their partners bodily harm and death, claiming it is love and I wonder if loving your partner makes you want to hurt them or otherwise. Does jealousy actually mean you love someone? What is the relationship between love and jealousy?

HOLINESS AND VIRGINITY

Image
Talking about virginity to some people, you are indirectly talking about holiness, but have we ever tried to ask what the differences are? Does virginity have anything to do with holiness? Maybe we just don’t define them rightly. Now let’s define them. According to Oxford Dictionary, holy from which holiness is derived are defined as follows: 1. Morally and spiritually excellent or perfect, and to be revered. 2. Belonging to or devoted to God. 3. consecrated, sacred. [Old English: related to *whole] Let’s talk the meaning of virginity just as well. Virginity means remaining a virgin and according to Oxford Dictionary virgin is defined as follows: 1. Person who has never had sexual intercourse. 2. (The Virgin) Christ's mother Mary. 3. (The Virgin) sign or constellation Virgo. —adj. 1 not yet used etc. 2. Virginal. [Latin virgo -gin-] All the above definitions of virgin points to one thing: natural state of something; a state of not being utilized. ...

TELL THEM

Image
Tell them, Tell those that think we are weak, that we are strong and fearless freaks Our strengths are engraved in the creaks, but one day, they shall be free. Tell those thieves that make our thrones their homes and feed our fruits of labour to the dogs, I mean those Iscariots that sells our souls for lesser coins, that one day we shall retrieve our souls and trample their souls under the soles of our souls.

I DON'T EVEN KNOW HER NAME!

Image
I don’t even know her name, I didn’t take it with me on my memory lane, but it wasn’t claim to fame, lest I be put to shame. I saw her, She was too tall to equal my waist, with eyes so bright to see my heart. She was such a gracious heart. Yes, she is gracious! She whispered to my ears, “I am fulfilled today,” Not filled with wines, like those that dance and dine, Or with penis, like those lasses that are blessed with big butts and boobs.

SULE; THE UGLY CHECHE (THE SELF-ESTEEM WAR) Written by Soul’e Rhymez

Image
Sometime ago, a good friend of mine from North America sent me a message saying "hi, Ugly Boy” and I replied, "hello Beautiful Lady” without giving it a real thought. But if it were some seven, eight years before now, it would have got me thinking and depressed, blaming God for making me ugly and perhaps my mom for settling for my father, whom I look exactly like. Talking about some seven, eight years ago; when I was still in high school; a remarkable event took place; a self-esteem war that changed my name to "Sule, The Ugly Cheche."It was a dull morning in the school premises, after a show of shame with a group of girls, my classmates who had to fight for their beautiful friend, Esther, whom I became an embarrassment to just for asking her out. I was in SSS 3 and preparing for my final exams when it happened, they raised the chorus " Sule, Ugly Cheche " and invited junior students to back them up, their song was a sharp arrow, it pier...

THE CHILD HERO EMPOWERMENT WORKSHOP 3.0

Image
Chinonye . J. Chidolue, doing a little bit of motivational speaking The sun still slumbered and the charade of illumination seemed all engulfed in a long experienced eclipse. The earth is seen wary, yet bent clambered in soliloquy of a new day, as it seemed the terrestrial elements were not ready for the instance. a cross section of the invited guests Yet, honking and gridlock on bridges and pathways all assumed the ever call of diligence and vehemence. Another date was marked, in diaries of the steadfast irrespective of the sullen clime. Amid these risers are the contingents posed towards humanity, armed with the

HOW TO KNOW YOU ARE NOT A GOOD LEADER

Image
Sometimes ago, I read a write-up, where it was written that Nigerian youths are mere whatsApp group Administrators, while their oversea counterparts are very innovative. This I think says a lot about leadership in African youths. The writer might not be totally right, but there is an element of truth in the write-up. African youths seem to know how to criticize more than any other thing. Try to visit a vendor on a Monday morning and see how jobless youths speak so ineloquently grandiloquent when they criticize the leaders, yet get angry at the slightest provocation. Does a good leader get angry like that? That mean they criticize what they can’t do. It is relatively easy to cast aspersions on the leaders, but would you have done better if you get there? Talking about being a whatsApp group administrator, I have seen whatsApp groups, many of which the participants are less than 80, that have ceased to function because the owners can’t just manage people or get them to fo...

GENDER EQUALITY; A NEEDLESS AGITATION

Image
When a topic such as gender equality is raised, the question a lot of people ask is, can women be equal to men? There have been several tussles as regard passing the bill into law in Nigeria, the most populated black nation. However, a lot of folks do not understand what Gender Equality entails. What is Gender Equality? Gender is the classification of sexes, while equality means being equal, in a nutshell; it means equal rights for the sexes. The Feminists argues it is equity and that takes us to the meaning of equity, which according to Oxford Dictionary is: 1. Fairness. 2. Principles of justice used to correct or supplement the law. 3. A value of the shares issued by a company. b (in pl.) stocks and shares not bearing fixed interest. [Latin aequitas: related to *equal]. In all of the above definitions of equity, we can only pick the first two, which is fairness and principle of justice used to correct or supplement law. It will therefore mean that the fem...

SERVITUDE

Image
Arise O compatriots Nigeria's call obey Unto multitudes without gender clad in crested vests Packed in rugged khaki Fresh breed of paramilitary Fresh meat for the men on the seat Arise O compatriots Sent to serve the fatherland for a year Rent is their lives unto supreme sacrifice Neglected by humanity Condemned by divinity No room for fear nor regret Ask! A call to service or to slavery? Unto the government who spun them out; They are zilch Unto the terrorists who raises dust up; They are meat Unto the citizens who murdered their sanity; They are milk Unto the firms who spit white out the black lips; They are rots Unto the religious leaders who sits in nooks cut into walls; They are nulls Unto the community who offers three legged chairs to sit on; They are dogs.
